For the first time in history such a large delegation from Pakistan Pharmaceutical Industries consisting of 12 members visited the UK.
The aim was to improve education and implementation of European Manufacturing Standards in Pakistan’s Pharma Industry and hence improve the quality of medicines produced in the country. This enhanced regulation and accreditation will not only benefit patients in the country but also significantly increase Pakistan’s share in this $500 billion global industry.
His Excellency Mr Nafees Zakaria, the High Commissioner of Pakistan welcomed the delegation at his office in London and promised the Government’s full support.
It is encouraging to mention that Pakistan is already exporting medicines to nearly 40 countries and 2 Pakistani Pharma groups have registered with the UK Regulator MHRA (Medicines and Health Products Regulatory Authority).
