All 33 terrorists killed, hostages rescued in Jaffar Express operation: ISPR DG

LAHORE – Director General of Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry, confirmed that the Jaffar Express operation in Bolan has concluded, with all 33 terrorists killed and hostages safely rescued.

Speaking on a private TV channel, he revealed that terrorists targeted the railway track in Bolan on March 11 and took Jaffar Express passengers hostage. The attackers remained in contact with handlers in Afghanistan and used passengers as human shields during the operation.

The rescue mission, involving the Pakistan Army, Air Force, FC, and SSG, was launched immediately. The hostages, divided into three groups by the terrorists, were freed in phases.

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif stated that despite the complex terrain and remote location, security forces executed the operation with extreme caution, ensuring no harm to any passenger.

He disclosed that the ruthless terrorists had already killed 21 innocent civilians and martyred 4 FC personnel before the final operation.

Highlighting foreign involvement, he said terrorists targeted innocent people with support from external backers. He emphasized that the attackers had no link to Islam or Balochistan.

Lt Gen Ahmed Sharif concluded by affirming that the final clearance operation was conducted with professionalism and care, successfully rescuing the hostages without any casualties.

Due to heightened security concerns, the railway administration has announced the suspension of Jaffar Express services for the next three days.

Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi remains in constant contact with Balochistan Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti, assuring full federal support in counterterrorism efforts.

“Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti is a courageous leader, and together, we will eradicate terrorists and their facilitators,” Naqvi stated, reaffirming the government’s commitment to eliminating terrorism.

The federal and provincial governments have vowed to take all necessary measures to restore peace and prevent such incidents in the future.
