
Manchester: Greater Manchester Police has released official details regarding the ongoing investigation involving Pakistani cricketer Haider Ali, who is accused in a sexual assault case.
According to the police statement, the incident allegedly occurred on July 23 within the Manchester area, while the complaint was formally registered on August 4.
24-Year-Old Arrested, Later Released on Bail
Authorities confirmed that a 24-year-old male suspect was arrested in connection with the case. However, after initial inquiry, the individual was released on bail pending further investigation. The police emphasized that the inquiry is active and ongoing.
Haider Ali Under Investigation, Suspended by PCB
Following the allegations, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has announced the suspension of Haider Ali. In an official statement, the PCB said:“Haider Ali is currently under investigation in a criminal case by Manchester Police. In line with the PCB’s Code of Conduct, the player has been suspended until further notice.”
Travel Restrictions Imposed
British authorities have also imposed a travel restriction on Haider Ali, barring him from leaving the United Kingdom while the investigation continues. He has been summoned again by the police within the next two weeks for further questioning.
Incident Linked to Pakistan Shaheens’ Tour
The alleged incident took place during the recent England tour of the Pakistan Shaheens, a developmental team of the Pakistan Cricket Board. The situation has sparked significant concern both within sporting and legal circles.
