KARACHI — A tragic incident unfolded in Karachi’s Defence Phase 6, Khayaban-e-Mujahid, where a mother allegedly slit the throats of her two children. Police have arrested the suspect, identified as Adeeba, who is said to have acted out of resentment over custody issues following her divorce.
According to police, the incident occurred after Adeeba’s divorce from her husband, Ghufran, who worked at a private company. The couple had been married for nine years before separating last year. The children were living with their father but visited their mother on weekends.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) South, Mahzoor Ali, stated that the crime was the result of a “broken family system and emotional instability.” The custody case was still pending in court.
Edhi volunteers shifted the bodies to Jinnah Hospital. Police also confirmed that the suspect had a history of mental health issues, which contributed to the marital breakdown.
