Quetta (a1tv news) A shocking statement has emerged from the mother of a woman killed in an alleged honor killing in Balochistan. The mother, Gul Jan, has claimed that her daughter was killed in accordance with Baloch tribal traditions and has demanded the release of the detained suspects.
Statement from the Victim’s Mother
In her recorded statement, Gul Jan identified herself as the mother of the deceased woman, Bano. Holding a copy of the Holy Quran, she said:
“I speak the truth with the Quran before me. Bano was the mother of five children. What Baloch man could tolerate a mother of five eloping with another man?”She added that Bano’s eldest son is 18 years old, while the youngest is only 6.
“Yes, we killed her. This was not dishonor but justice according to our traditions,” she said.
Background of the Case
According to the mother, Bano had allegedly eloped with her neighbor, Ehsanullah, and lived with him for 25 days before returning home. Her husband forgave her for the sake of the children and accepted her back. However, the family claims that Ehsanullah continued to harass them by sending threatening videos on TikTok.
One such video reportedly featured Ehsanullah saying:
“Anyone who wants to fight me must have the heart of a lion.”
Gul Jan alleged that he even sent pictures of her son with cross marks, saying he would kill him.
“We could not tolerate such humiliation. What we did was our right,” she stated.
Legal and Human Rights Concerns
The incident has sparked outrage among human rights activists who demand a thorough and impartial investigation. Legal experts assert that honor killings are a criminal offense under Pakistani law, and tribal customs cannot override the rule of law.
Ongoing Investigation
Authorities have arrested several suspects related to the case. However, the mother’s public statement defending the act has added a new layer of complexity to the investigation, which now requires balancing cultural sensitivities with justice and the legal system.
