Pakistan Day Celebrations in Dublin

To celebrate the 85th Pakistan Day, the Embassy in Dublin hosted a diplomatic reception on 7th April 2025. The occasion was graced by the Honorable Minister for Public Expenditures, Infrastructure, Public Service Reforms and Digitization, Mr. Jack Chambers as well as the Honorable Minister for EU Affairs and Defense Mr. Thomas Byrne.

The reception was attended by a large number of Irish Parliamentarians, Mayor of Kerry and Councilors from Dublin City Council and Limerick City Council, Irish Officials from the Departments of Foreign Affairs, Justice, Health and Defense, members of the Diplomatic Corp, representatives of Chambers of Commerce, business sector, academia, civil society, Pakistani Irish Diaspora and Pakistani students.

The ceremony commenced with the national anthems of Pakistan and Ireland. A special Pakistan Day cake was cut with the guests of honor and dignitaries.

Welcoming the esteemed guests, Ambassador Aisha Farooqui underscored the significance of Pakistan Day resolution of 23 March 1940 and reflected on the national journey of the last eight decades that has been shaped by perseverance and an unwavering determination to achieve progress and prosperity for the nation.

The Ambassador expressed satisfaction at the growing strength of bilateral relations with Ireland and deemed the recent opening of the Irish Embassy in Pakistan as a milestone that would usher in a new phase of engagement and cooperation.

In his remarks, Minister Jack Chambers reaffirmed the desire of the Irish government to further building bilateral ties with Pakistan in education, business and trade, sports and people to people ties. He commended the contribution of the Pakistani diaspora in diverse sectors of the Irish society and economy.

While Minister for EU Affairs, Thomas Byrne highlighted the importance of cementing bilateral cooperation with Pakistan. He underscored Pakistan’s longstanding relations with European Union. Ireland will be assuming the Presidency of the EU Council in 2026 where he looked forward to furthering Pakistan-EU engagement in several areas of mutual interest under the Irish Presidency.
