Hassan Abdal – A tragic incident occurred in the Jhary Kas stream of Hassan Abdal on Tuesday night as a flash flood swept away a vehicle carrying ten members of the same family. Rescue teams recovered the bodies of four women, while the search for a missing child continues.
According to rescue officials, the family was returning to Wah Cantt from a wedding ceremony when their Vigo vehicle was caught in the strong current of a seasonal stream, known as Jhary Kas Nala, after heavy rains lashed the region. The stream overflowed suddenly, dragging the vehicle downstream with ten passengers inside.
Out of the ten passengers, five people were rescued safely, while the remaining four women and one child went missing. After an intense search and rescue operation, four bodies were recovered. However, the search for the missing child is still ongoing.
Rescue 1122 teams, along with local authorities, have continued their search operation since the early hours of the morning. The affected family belongs to Wah Cantt and was traveling through the area unaware of the potential flood threat after the torrential rain.
The incident follows a night of heavy rainfall in Rawalpindi, Islamabad, and surrounding areas. Several low-lying neighborhoods were inundated, and water levels in natural streams rose dangerously, causing traffic disruptions and damage to infrastructure.
