Washington, D.C. — October 3, 2025
U.S. President Donald Trump has given Hamas until Sunday at 6:00 p.m. (Washington D.C. time) to accept a proposed agreement on Gaza’s future or face unspecified but severe consequences.
In a post on social media, Trump declared, “An Agreement must be reached with Hamas by Sunday Evening at SIX (6) P.M. … If this LAST CHANCE agreement is not reached, all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas.”
The 20-point plan, announced earlier in the week with backing from Israel, calls for:
- An immediate ceasefire
- A full hostage-prisoner exchange
- A phased Israeli withdrawal from Gaza
- Disarmament of Hamas
- A transitional international authority to temporarily govern Gaza
A senior Hamas official acknowledged talks are underway with Arab mediators, Turkey, and other Palestinian factions. Hamas has historically rejected demands for disarmament, posing a major obstacle to agreeing to the plan.
If Hamas does not accept by the deadline, Trump warns of military action on an unprecedented scale.
Meanwhile, some regional actors are pushing for Hamas to accept. Egypt’s foreign minister urged the group to disarm and comply with the plan, suggesting further resistance would only deepen civilian suffering.
The coming hours are expected to be critical, as Hamas weighs its options under intense diplomatic and military pressure.
