Solar-Powered Spy Drone Can Stay in Air for 90 Days Without Refueling

The American tech startup Skydweller Aero has developed this new type of maritime surveillance drone in collaboration with Thales, a French defense systems specialist.

According to the creators, the drone is made of carbon fiber and can fly continuously for up to 90 days, which is significantly longer than current aircraft.

During test flights, its initial milestone of three months of continuous operation suggests that the aircraft is capable of nearly permanent flight.

It draws energy directly from the sun, so there is no need for it to land to refuel.
