LAHORE(A1 TV NEWS)Five policemen of the Elite Force were martyred and two others injured in a deadly attack by armed bandits on the Shekhani checkpost in the Katcha area of Rahim Yar Khan, Punjab.
The attack occurred late Thursday night and led to a fierce exchange of gunfire in which one bandit was also killed. The martyred officers were identified as Muhammad Irfan, Muhammad Saleem, Muhammad Khalil, Nakheel, and Ghazanfar Abbas—two from Rahim Yar Khan and three from Bahawalnagar.
Taking notice of the incident, Punjab IGP Dr Usman Anwar ordered a detailed report from RPO Bahawalpur and instructed DPO Rahim Yar Khan to arrest those involved.
He paid tribute to the fallen officers, calling their sacrifice a symbol of courage and duty, and vowed that the ongoing police operation against criminal gangs in the riverine areas would continue with full force.
