Neelum river tragedy – haunting memories grip Lahore family’s abode
LAHORE (A1TV NEWS) NINE members of a family from Lahore’s MAQBOOL ROAD Ichhra area were among the nine people who lost their lives in the tragic Neelum Valley accident.
The relatives and neighbours of the ill-fated family expressed their shock over the incident. The house where the family resided had a haunted atmosphere and everyone around was tearful.
The shocking incident took place when the family visited Kashmir’s Neelum Valley and met with an accident when their jeep fell into the river. Moin, Hasnain Shahzad, Shahnawaz, Maqsood, Ghulam Meera, Waleed Abrar, Hassan Safdar, Zain Safdar, Bilal Maqbool, Azhar Ashraf, Rahim Khan and Raheel fell a victim to the tragedy. Initially, Ghulam Meera’s dead body was recovered from the calamity scene. The condition of injured Moin, Zain Safdar and Hasnain was critical, said relatives.
A rescue operation continued in the river to find clue to the missing people.
Nine people lost their lives when a tourist vehicle fell into the river on way back from Tao Butt at Grace Valley. The accident took place as the driver lost control over the wheel. No sooner had the accident taken place than police, locals and army personnel dashed to the spot. The rescue teams recovered the dead body of a tourist while five injured including the driver were shifted to hospital.
Police said the jeep went out of control and fell into the river resulting in tragic deaths and injuries. The administration officials said there was little chance of survival of the missing.
