PHC Dr Faisalhosts communityengagement event atPakistan High Commission

LONDON(a1tv news) The High Commissioner of Pakistan to United Kingdom, Dr. Mohammad Faisal hosted a Community Engagement Event at the Pakistan High Commission headed by the Naval Regional Commander for London and Eastern England, Commodore Robert Bellfield CBE ADC of the Royal Navy.

The aim of the event was to create awareness about the Royal Navy within the UK-Pakistan community, under the headline of “What does the Royal Navy do for You?” The arrangements were led by Honorary Captain of Royal Navy Durdana Ansari. The event was attended by a high-profile audience, including diplomats, members of the House of Lords, senior community leaders, people from business and the arts, British Pakistanis, veterans and a serving Pakistani-heritage Able Seaman Reservist.

The Royal Navy Mobile Engagement Team, led by Lieutenant Commander Katherine Holmes, provided a detailed presentation; in addition to speeches by the High Commissioner, the Defence Attaché, Commodore Zeeshan Nabi, Lord Qurban Hussain, and the Lord Mayor of Manchester, Cllr Yasmin Dar. The event was a welcome opportunity for many people who had little experience of the Royal Navy, to appreciate how important maritime security is to an island nation and to emphasise the close cooperation between the Royal Navy and Pakistan Navy to counter maritime crime in the Arabian Sea area.

Cdre. Muhammad Zeeshan Nabi Sheikh SI(M), Defence & Naval Adviser at the Pakistan High Commission, in his introductory remarks, stated that this event provided an opportunity to understand the working of Royal Navy and its collaboration with Pakistan Navy.

Addressing the event, High Commissioner, Dr. Mohammad Faisal appreciated the outreach of Royal Navy and said that Pakistan and Britain share glorious maritime collaborations. He said that such events further cement bonds between Pakistan and the UK. The High Commissioner said that both Navies play a vital role in maintaining maritime security.

Honorary Captain of Royal Navy, Durdana Ansari OBE, the first Pakistani & Muslim woman to hold this position, said that Royal Navy greatly values diversity and inclusion.

Commodore, Robert Bellfield of the Royal Navy informed the audience about the working and achievements of Royal Navy. He thanked the Pakistan High Commission for organizing community outreach event and reiterated that Pakistan and Royal Navy continue to collaborate.
