RAWALPINDI – Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder and former prime minister Imran Khan has demanded that the government announce the appointment of the next chief justice soon.
In an informal conversation with journalists at Adiala Jail, Imran Khan expressed his full support for the Supreme Court’s most senior judge, Justice Mansoor Ali Shah.
The PTI founder stated that the purpose of the constitutional court is to undermine the powers of the chief justice of the Supreme Court, accusing the government of seeking to destroy the entire judiciary.
Imran Khan further claimed they needed their judges to cover up the election fraud, aiming to prevent PTI from rising to power.
He described Pakistan as having become a police state, asserting that it is harsher than the martial laws of Zia and Musharraf.
He noted that they are not being allowed to hold any rallies, warning that if permission for a rally in Rawalpindi is denied, they will protest.
It is worth mentioning that just yesterday, Imran Khan stated that the recent decision regarding specific seats in the Supreme Court has clarified everything. He remarked that even during the NAB amendments case, they requested to be heard, but their pleas were ignored.
He said that the attempt to exclude PTI from the elections and to dismantle the party has now been exposed, with all veils removed.
He slammed the Practice and Procedure Act as a violation of democratic processes for adjudicating cases.
