Dallas to Host APPNA’s 48th Annual Convention: A Celebration of Medicine and Community
DALLAS, TX – July 9, 2025 – The Association of Physicians of Pakistani Descent of North America (APPNA) is thrilled to kick off its 48th Annual Convention today at the luxurious Hilton Anatole in Dallas, running through July 13, 2025. This vibrant gathering promises to unite healthcare professionals, families, and communities for five days of inspiration, education, and cultural celebration.
Under the leadership of Dr. Humeraa Qamar, APPNA’s 2025 President and a esteemed pediatrician from Ocala, Florida, this year’s convention embraces the theme “APPNA as a Family.” Dr. Qamar’s vision emphasizes unity, transparent governance, and empowering women in leadership while fostering partnerships with hospitals in Pakistan to advance medical education and care.
A Hub for Learning and ConnectionThe convention will feature a dynamic lineup of Continuing Medical Education (CME) sessions, open to both APPNA members and non-members, offering cutting-edge insights into medical advancements. Attendees can look forward to networking with peers, exploring innovations, and engaging in thought-provoking discussions.
The Young Professionals Committee (YPC) will host exciting sessions on July 12, including a workshop on “Applying to Medical School & Approaching the MCAT” (9–10 AM) and a one-on-one discussion with residency program directors (11 AM–12 PM). These free sessions are designed to guide aspiring medical professionals toward success. Additionally, an Entrepreneurship Panel & Networking Event and a SAYA youth event promise to inspire the next generation.
Vibrant Bazaar and Community ImpactFrom July 10–13, the convention’s bustling bazaar will showcase an array of vendors, from pharmaceuticals and biotechnology to fashion, jewelry, and real estate.
Open daily from 9 AM to 6 PM (until 1 PM on Sunday), the bazaar offers a unique opportunity for attendees to connect with industry leaders and explore diverse offerings. Organizations like Helping Hand USA, promoting the KIND-R Hospital in Pakistan, and Islamic Relief will highlight impactful charitable initiatives, including the APPNA Corneal Project, encouraging attendees to contribute to life-changing causes.

The convention will also host elections for APPNA’s 2026 President-Elect and Board of Directors, with voting open from July 9–13.
