‘Missing’ Usman Dar appears on TV to quit PTI

Usman Dar on Wednesday announced to leave the Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, in a surprising comeback weeks after going missing under mysterious circumstances.

The young politician from Sialkot, who was considered a stalwart of PTI chairman Imran Khan, remerged on a private TV channel to give a warts-and-all picture of the party’s ‘nefarious designs’ against the military “for losing power through no-trust motion”.

Dar also accused the PTI chief of running an anti-Pakistan narrative.

“Whatever happened at the Judicial Complex in Islamabad and Zaman Park in Lahore was the result this brainwashing,” alleged Dar, deploring that the PTI chief brainwashed his own party workers in order to avoid his arrest.

The PTI leader disclosed that PTI’s long march in October last year was meant to stop the posting of Asim Munir as the chief of army staff.

Dar blamed the PTI chairman for the present condition of the party which, according to him, was in tatters after seeing scores of party stalwarts and loyalists leave for its anti-Pakistan narrative. He also mentioned the mass resignations following the violent attacks on sensitive installations that shook the very foundations of the PTI.

Dar also claimed that he did not put a burden of even a rupee on the state exchequer, saying he even paid out of pocket for his official foreign visits. He said he did not misuse the taxpayers’ money.

The PTI leader strongly condemned the May 9 violence, and said, “The slur left by the May 9 incident [on the PTI] will take time to come out.”

He said since he himself belonged to Sialkot, a city of martyrs and “Ghazis”, he could not even think of attacking his country’s security forces.

Usman Dar announced his resignation with the PTI and quitting from national politics for good.
