
Authorities in Dubai have warned residents to strictly comply with cyber laws in the United Arab Emirates, stating that even private chats on WhatsApp are not exempt from cybercrime regulations.
Officials emphasized that sharing screenshots or conversations without consent is illegal and may lead to legal action.
They further cautioned that forwarding false or misleading information can result in penalties, with fines ranging from AED 250,000 to AED 500,000.
Authorities also noted that WhatsApp group admins can be held responsible for illegal content shared within their groups.
Additionally, sharing unverified news may also be considered a crime, and the public has been advised to remain cautious.
