Fawad Chaudhry takes a break from politics, parting ways with PTI and Imran Khan

ISLAMABAD(a1tv news) Former Information minister Fawad Chaudhry has announced to leave the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), dealing another major blow to former prime minister Imran Khan and his party.  

“I have decided to take a break from politics, therefore, I have resigned from party position and parting ways from Imran Khan,” he said in a tweet.

The 53-year-old served as Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting and Federal Minister for Science and Technology during Imran Khan’s government, while holding an important position in the party and the federal cabinet. He had been a member of the National Assembly of Pakistan from August 2018 till January 2023.

Fawad Chaudhry joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) in June 2016, and was a member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s core committee since 4 June 2019.

A lawyer by profession, who also worked as a political analyst and an anchor for several media organizations, Fawad Chaudhry was born in Dina, Jhelum.

Dozens of PTI leaders have announced to leave Imran Khan’s party and ‘leave politics’ for good in the aftermatch of May 9 vandalism when PTI workers and supporters stormed the GHQ gate and Coprs Commander House (also called Jinnah House) among other public and private proeperties following their leader’s arrest by anti-graft authorities and Rangers. 

They include Dr Shireen Mazari, Malik Amin Aslam, Mahmood Moulvi, Amir Kayani, Fayyazul Hassan Chohan, Jai Prakash, Aftab Siddiqui and Sanjay Gangwani.

Former premier Imran Khan says PTI leaders are being forced at gunpoint to leave the party, in order to ‘cut PTI to size’.
