Mumbai : Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff escaped unharmed after unidentified gunmen allegedly opened fire at his vehicle in Mumbai, leaving two people injured. Police have launched an investigation into the incident and are examining claims of a possible connection with the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.
According to Indian media reports, the shooting took place on Sunday evening in Mumbai’s Juhu area as Shroff was returning home with his driver after playing football. People had reportedly gathered in the area hoping to catch a glimpse of the actor when unidentified assailants opened fire at his vehicle.
Mumbai Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg said two people were injured in the incident. Shroff’s driver, identified as Firdous, sustained minor injuries and was reported to be out of danger. Another member of the actor’s staff was also injured by gunfire.
Both injured individuals were taken to Nanavati Hospital for medical treatment.
Maharashtra minister Ashish Shelar said he had contacted Mumbai Police Commissioner Deven Bharti following the incident. Medical assistance was being provided to the injured, while authorities began investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Condemns Gang Violence
Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde strongly condemned the attack on Shroff’s vehicle, declaring that gang warfare would not be tolerated in Mumbai.
Shinde assured that strict action would be taken against those responsible for the incident. He also stressed that film personalities should not have to live in fear and that the authorities would take steps to address the situation.
The shooting has renewed concerns about the safety of celebrities in Mumbai, where several high-profile cases involving threats and attacks on public figures have drawn attention in recent years.
Congress Questions Maharashtra Government Over Security
Meanwhile, the Congress party criticised Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, who also holds the state’s home portfolio, over concerns about law and order.
Congress leader Sachin Sawant described the shooting involving Shroff’s vehicle as alarming and said it raised questions about the security situation in Mumbai.
He referred to the killing of politician Baba Siddique, the firing incident outside actor Salman Khan’s residence and threats reportedly received by several actors and film producers while criticising the state government’s handling of security concerns.
Police are continuing their investigation to identify the suspects and establish the motive behind the attack. Investigators are also examining whether the shooting has any connection with organised criminal groups.
However, no conclusive evidence confirming the involvement of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang had been established in the information available at the time of reporting.
Authorities are expected to pursue further leads as the investigation progresses.
